My Folks
Sunday was my mom and dad's anniversary. They have been married for 29 years!!
and they have produced 3 kids (that's us), one is a doctor, one is a housewife and blogger extraordinaire and one is the soon-to-be wife of a doctor!! (laughing)
Well my point is we are all pretty happy folk, and we have our parents to thank, I love them so much, I brag about them all the time, most of our friends have become honorary daughters and sons because it just looked like so much fun to them. and it is.
I am so thankful for them.
They are the reason I like myself.
Because they love me so much I am driven to make them proud, and can clearly see the importance of loving one's family, which is what it's all about!

Ash Wednesday Again
"Ashes are a sign of penitence for the sin in our lives"
This Lenten season I am giving up shopping for clothes for myself.
Here's what I said about Lent last year:
Today marks the beginning of the 40 days leading up to Easter, we call it Lent. During the Lenten season we are called to focus on our spiritual relationship to God and grow in faith. To help focus our minds more on God we make a resolution of some kind, either to sacrifice something you like to do (like eat McDonalds) or add something good and selfless to your life (like make breakfast for your husband). We wear ashes on our foreheads today as an outward sign that says "we believe". We also do not eat meat on Fridays during this time as an extra way to remind us that the season is not about doing exactly what you want to do , when you want to do it, but to focus on a more holy goal. I enjoy this time that is specially prescribed in the Catholic church to work on our Godliness, and therefore, our ability to love like He loves,
without selfishness.

more baby stuff...
baby stuff is fun to make bc you don't need a lot of fabric, and you can do simple things, it's a great way to use left over fabric and trim, so that's fun. I never thought I would be doing so much baby stuff, but the school provides a great market for it! and babies do fall in my area of interest right now :)
another note on my sewing, I'm flattered that my friends think everything i make is so great, and that they even want one! but I want to tell you, all the stuff i make is SO imperfect it's hilarious, nowhere near the level of quality say, my mom can do. I like to do it though bc my curiosity drives me to finish something and see if it will actually work. I mostly only want to make something once, just to see if I can do it. and I love buying fabric, that's a huge piece of my interest in sewing...I don't know I just felt compelled to share these feelings with you...

Here we are with another snow day, i was supposed to go babysit today. but now im at home, and my husband keeps braving the conditions and heading off to work anyway, so here i am. True I am home alone quite a bit, but anyway since i probably won't drive anywhere, what should i do?

I slept with my hair in curlers last night and this is what I get. Nothing. My hair is becoming even more resistant to curls as of late and it is not fun.
it is getting quite long, no?
Anyway... I am going to Austin today (driving slowly) to be with Meg for the weekend and work on wedding planning! fun!

Cranberry Muffins with Walnut Crumb Topping
These bad boys were so good I had to make my own batch today, I highly recommend you do the same. Not the easiest things to make but worth it, we chopped the walnuts and gave the cranberries a rough chop as well.
