Tootsie Approved!

Here is the changing table all dressed up and ready to use! I'm so thankful to Barry, Paul's step dad, and future grandparent, for making this excellent table. I told him what I wanted and he delivered, and it is made impeccably because he's great at this kind of stuff.
I made a cover for the changing pad out of oilcloth (not sure why it is called this, but it is like vinyl but thinner, which means I can wipe it clean!) bought from City Craft here in Dallas. I stained the wood very imperfectly but I like the color.
And I added the little heart cuz I'm cute.

Of Course

I have been keeping my eyes peeled for some cute curtains for the nursery and haven't seen anything good. I was cruising Target's Web site looking at all the Missoni stuff, which is pretty much all sold out on the second day they released the collection! I came across these curtains which I would have purchased in a heartbeat because they would have been perfect in the nursery!
But no, I guess they are sold out and I don't know if they will get any more...

Gosh!

I just feel like I've been kinda busy lately!
My changing table for the nursery is in my posession thanks to the wonderful Barry, and I am about to go stain it. So I'll have a pic soon of a finished item ready for my baby's sweet little bottom.

just a recent phone pic...

Here's some pics from Last weekend

We went to Ft. Worth on Friday night and had dinner with some friends. I wore this 12 dollar H&M dress and rocked it maternity style.

Then we went to Waco on Saturday and spent the day with Meg and Mark, topped off by attending the Salsa-Margarita festival and country music concert. We sampled some salsas and margaritas (only 2 little marg samples for me) and then people watched.

Fun to make

I just love these little bloomers!

Oh yes

Rumba Pants!!
At least that's what my mom calls them, I think they could also be known as diaper covers.
I found a wonderful pattern and tutorial on Dana-made-it.com (I think that's the address?).
This fabric was super tricky to work with, but probably worth it, I mean look at all those ruffles!!
Baby girl I can not wait to see you in these...

On J. Crew's blog, showing places they scouted out for their photo shoot and then the actual photo that ends up in the catalogue.

Big Belly Jeans

Photo on 2011-08-12 at 12.10
I turned these into maternity jeans today! I feel pretty good about how they turned out. They are comfy, and I think I will be able to wear them even when my tummy is super huge.

Ta Da! (notice my ta da hands)
So now I have designer maternity jeans that cost me 27 buck, you can't even get maternity jeans that cheap at target!

Non-Maternity Maternity clothes, a.k.a., Clothes.

Went to Nordstrom Rack today in search of some new sunglasses. I haven't been interested in shopping for clothes much lately because I am kind of at a loss for what to buy these days.
I ended up stumbling in to some cute stuff!
That will work for my baby belly as well...
I got a pair of super stretchy super low Seven jeans (for $27!!) that I am going to make in to my maternity jeans by adding a bit of elastic and/or a little belly band action. score.
I got a cool crochet top that looks super cute on.
and this long skirt that totally works for maternity because of the jersey waistband.

A day with baby Everett, Katie and Paul

Everett Sterling Clark
P8032435
I was so fortunate to be able to get up to Amarillo on Wednesday to see Everett and Katie and Paul, I got to spend the whole day hanging out and giving some love to this sweet little man. No surprise that Katie was a champion during labor and everything went great, I think she had only slept a handful of hours since his birth when I was there, but she looked refreshed and happy to be holding her new little son. It is truly an amazing miracle to see her holding that precious being, who just days ago was still in her tummy. My mind reels with excitement when I think about holding my own baby in just a few short months!

In other news

For our anniversary Paul and I bought ourselves a new King size bed, and we love it!
Yesterday we went to Lowe's and bought some wood and we made a headboard, I think it turned out pretty well.

Emotional morning

Been being updated about the birth of this little guy all morning. My sweet Katie has given birth to her first baby boy on her own birthday today!! I don't even know his official name at this point, they were waiting until he was born to say for sure. I am going to try and hop on a flight tomorrow afternoon to go and see him and my friend, who I have known and loved since we were just babies ourselves.

Waco finds

Here in Waco today with Meg and Mark when he is on breaks we went to this adorable store. An adorable array of cute things and antiques I was inspired to turn the nursery into a vintage feminine heaven. It was an awesome store. Then we went to the Dr. Pepper museum and to Rudy's!

What I've made

I have been saving this polka dot fabric to make something special for my baby since May, I got it at Mood in NYC, So I whipped up this little dress/tunic for her the other day.
P7282424P7282425P7282428
And obviously my baby girl needs a pair of little leopard print pants to hang out in , so I made these today out of left over fabric from a past project. I tend to make things really small, even though I try to cut out everything with plenty of extra room, so I guess I will have to work on that...

Loving

all these clothes for the baby girl.

Herman Wouk Books

This book, which I just finished moments ago is excellent. The story of an Author who gains success and lives a fast-paced life, taking place largely in New york City in the 40s and 50s. At about 800 pages it is quite an undertaking. I have been reading little bits at a time for months. It is amazing though and I just wanted to tell you about it.

And now Marjorie, which I read earlier this year, is also a fabulous book. Of the two this one is just slightly my favorite. The story of a young girl and her journey to maturity. As a girl the craziest thing about this book is that a man wrote it, it truly is mind boggling the insight into a young woman's brain he has. A must read!
I have been wanting to just share these books, because they are fabulous, the kind that make you smarter and make you shake your head at the things the author seems to have figured out. At least that's how Meg and I feel, and my folks too...

Amarillo and Lubbock

P7092390P7092392P7092413P7092405P7102422
This past weekend Paul and I went up to Amarillo so that I could attend miss Katie's baby shower. We stayed with our buds Richard and Dana on Friday and had a lovely breakfast with them, and then I went on to the shower and got to be with Katie and take more belly to belly pictures (very important). Then we went on to Lubbock to see Brianna and Spencer where we were treated to a tasty dinner and a nice time just chatting and hanging out in their cute home. And getting to know Scout, their rambunctious adorable dog. So it was a busy one but I'm so glad we went for it!

Boy or Girl?

Went to the Doctor yesterday and we got to watch our baby on the monitor! It was so cool to see him/her in action (baby Y was moving all over the place! the technician was laughing at their evasive maneuvers as she was trying to get a glimpse of their gender). We did not get to find out if it is a boy or girl, we are saving that for the party a week from Friday, my mom gave me these cute litte charms to keep me company until then :)
