let me tell you something

So I've been thinking about how I might be needing some new skinny jeans, maybe in a dark color, but before I went out shopping I decided to go through all my jeans see what I had.

exhibit A

I had 12 pairs of jeans.

So I started thinking about which of those I actually wore and tried some on and I was thinking "you know, these dark boot cut jeans are nice, and I don't really wear them, maybe I'll take them to a tailor and see if they can turn them into skinny jeans!"

They turned out totally cute and it only cost $20. AND I bought these jeans from Ruehl ( my old store) for only $19. So I am pleased, and I suggest you take a jean inventory before you purchase a new pair.

An email from Meg in Italy

I'm sorry I missed your call but I was in the Isole Eolie, and I forgot to bring my phone. The islands were very pretty! I posted some pics of them so go check them out ( fb album ) , it's mostly like silly friend pics etc.. but I took so many and am obviously keeping them. and I'm attaching a few if you just want to look at those as well. Also, I have Cambria's pics and she is an impressive photographer for just being a 21 yr old who doesn't study photo or anything.. Mom you'd be impressed. (But she also has a sweet Nikon ds40 to work with)

The islands were great, we traveled by train, boat, taxi, bus, hydrofoil, and lots of walking. It was crazy, we were only there from Fri- Sun too! But it was so neat, seeing other islands that are so close (relatively speaking). It was agood starter trip for us too, I'm really excited for Venezia and even more excited for ROMA. Oh, I found a hostel that is right next to the train station, so if we did the Firenze trip it would be easily accessible. But what are other finds? Am I supposed to be finding the hotel?

I finished Winds of War! As soon as I finished I picked up War and Remembrance because WOW just ended! Without tying up any ends! I can't believe some people had to read it without being able to read the next one that very second, I would have been so frustrated. It's such a good book with so much information, I felt like I should be taking notes or something. My favorite quote in the whole thing is something that I feel a lot being here..

".. broad dark ocean, the streaming pure air, the crowded stars arching overhead, always made him feel what the Bible called the spirit of God hovering on the face of the waters."

Cambria and I go to the water most nights to write in our journals and chat about how we feel and do nerdy things like that and that's how I feel! It's such a perfect way to really feel proud of being on our planet, and thankful to God because there's no way something this overwhelming was produced without a higher power. You know? I love the Mediterranean, I'm going to miss it so much (that and the outdoor market)

Did you ever get my shoes? Have you mailed a pkg here yet? I'm nervous about that, it seems like mail is so sketchy but as long as there are two clear addresses on it, I'll either get it eventually or you'll get it back. Or I'll have to search for it at the post office .. which is THE WORST PLACE HERE, oh man what a nightmare.

Alright well, I'm at school waiting for Cambria to get out of class then we're going home to cook peppers and egg plant, yumm yum.

I'v been really missing home! But not in a way that makes me want to come home early or something insane, Dad member how I freaked out a little just before getting on the plane? Thankfully I don't have those feelings ever, but like when I listen to Bruce Springsteen or look at pics of Sarah and Paul I miss home. But I have good friends here and we're about to start being so busy busy that before I know it it will be time to fly to London and have happy reunion times.

Soos, I almost bought the French Vogue here for you because it just looked soooo alla mode, but it's heavy and what are you gonna do with it? Unless you express a real desire for one then i will happily go get it for you, but otherwise I'm trying not to buy things like that on impulse even tho i really want to.

Okay goodbye I love you all! And I have now written and sent a crazy amt of post cards.
Omg I think it's about to start raining after I just finally did laundry and hung it up outside. Better go, pics sent later!

An idea

My mom had a good idea the other day, I was talking about how I wanted a cute blazer of the "boyfriend style" (that term is getting a ton of use, so it kinda bothers me) and I ended up finding one the next day at tj maxx, which I showed you. But! Her idea none the less was good. She said you should go to a thrift store and find a blazer and then take it to a taylor and have them fit it to you , that would be fun because thrift stores have a ton of crazy blazers for cheaps. Anyway if you have been on the hunt for a cute blazer maybe you could try that! I still might...

watch out.

this is my new homemade leopard print jacket. I am happy with how it turned out, a lot less goofy stitches this time. I plan on wearing it as if it's not an extremely loud and dramatic piece of clothing, you know like pretend it's just a navy blue cardigan, match it with anything, that should be fun!

In other jacket news...

I picked up this cute black blazer and super sweet faux-leather bomber jacket from tj maxx yesterday, together they were only $55. NOT BAD.

questions, concerns?

Chipotle BMI

"bmi" is an acronym i use for "by myself", though it is not accurate.
Anyway chipotle is too good to save for when you can eat with others.
So I'm dining alone on the windy patio. Almost finished with my
leopard item!

Corresponding Photos

Here's us looking like wedding guests (sorry a little bright)
part of the beautiful outdoor display (there were a lot of these umbrellas around)
The walkway where guests arrive
Part of the amazing head table which was decked out in awesome decor.

The Weekend

We spent and eventful weekend in beautiful Nashville TN for Paul's cousin's wedding. She is my age, and the wedding was so nice. Unfortunately, 5 minutes before the ceremony began, it started raining! So the couple ended up getting married in their reception tent, (instead of the charming outdoor setting that had been decorated and prepared) which was decorated beautifully in a kind of middle eastern Baliwood theme. They had a photo booth and everything! Paul and I got spiffed up...

So, after the wedding Paul got extremely sick and was sick and throwing up all night long! Poor baby he was all feverish and achy and queasy. We were supposed to leave the next day at about 5pm, we weren't sure if Paul could fly because he was so ill, but we decided go for it and he got up the strength to go to the airport, and then of course I got to feeling gross, and went through all the same things Paul did, on a couple airplanes. It was some crazy virus that people got during wedding activities, we heard even the bride was throwing up as they were trying to make their way to St. Lucia. But! we made it, and all in all it was nice. And we feel better now.

We also got to go shopping in adorable downtown Franklin, (home of my good friend Jordan, lucky girl) I got an adorable dress which I will show you later..

Grrrr I have been trying to get pictures to download from the weekend and they just aren't coming, so I will try and post those later...sorry.

new shirt

Ta Da. I made this! My mom helped me, she's the sewing pro, but since I mostly sewed it myself it's kinda wonky in places. I love the fabric so much! This is my first real clothing item to make from scratch, so it's onwards and upwards from here I reckon.
p.s. I wasn't trying to avoid getting my face in the pics, I'm not weird like that, i just wanted to show my new leggings too.

Paul's step mom bought me this amazing white giant orchid! Isn't it
gorgeous! I am thrilled with it.

How fun

I got this cute little organizer today from micheals, (on sale) and
some brand new crayola markers to fill it with, what fun.
